After walking the streets for about ten minutes, you find yourself in a small tourist trap shop. All it appears to sell is memorabilia for visiting new york, mostly just postcards and small statuettes of the statue of liberty. As you meander through the shop, your cellphone rings.

[Conroy]

Satisfied with the immediate situation, Conroy begins walking the streets and alleys to get a feel for the land. If there are any interesting shops nearby, he wouldn't mind checking them out. For the most part he's just passing the time.

[Storyteller]

You leave the hotel and scout the perimeter. It appears as though the hotel is fairly old, and has not been brought up to city building code in the last decade. There is one fire exit on the left hand side of the building, where it forms an alley with the adjacent kitsch shop. The fire exit is accessible from every floor but the first, and appears to be very rusted. In the event of an escape, it would likely take a good deal of force to drop down the ladder to the ground. Every room appears to have a window that is large enough to escape out of, should it come to that.

On the right hand side of the building is a similar alley, but in the place of the fire escape is a rancid dumpster. Both alleys are free of any obstacles that would prevent an escape, such as a fence, and lead to 53rd street on their other end.

[Conroy]

While waiting for his mentor to call him back, Conroy scouts the nearby streets, particularly examining fire escapes and alleys. It always helps to be familiar with one's backdoor.

The scruff-looking man pays and leaves. An hour passes. Huico sits up, straightens his headband, and leaves.

Every skilled hunter learns their jungle. Huico then begins to wander the streets, getting a feel for the flow of the streets, the breeze on the sidewalk, the sounds of the city. Knowing the right places to hide.

He feels the knife, scabbarded in his pant's pocket. I haven't made a decent gift since I've been running. Some son I've been. Huico hunts; he searches for degenerates, looks for someone who picked the wrong day to cross the line. A fitting sacrifice.

[Storyteller]

He hands you a little keychain with a worn plastic shamrock attached to it. The shamrock has the number 12 engraved into it. Once outside, you are quickly able to locate the nearest food stand, as this is New York, and there must be one every two city blocks.

The time is now approximately 10:30, and the man is just setting up his stand. He will likely be ready to sell you delicious New York hot dogs and pretzels in a few moments.

[[What do all of you do? Aedan will be arriving at the hotel in approximately two and a half hours, and Isaac will not be arriving until much later tonight. None of the active characters are aware of this, but it is a small status update for those who are not yet in the main thread.]]

Conroy hands the man his Mastercard and receives a key. Assuming all goes well, he then leaves the lobby with his light luggage in toe to find a hotdog stand and await a phone call.

The headband catches his eye as he turns. There is just something disturbing about it. Nevermind. Exit stage right.

[Storyteller]

The man at the counter completely ignores the latin man with the woodcut, which can be seen to be a rough semblance of Cassy.

"Yeh," the man says without even blinking or moving his eyes from his little television.

[Crewer]

And I could have believed this guy was going to work with us. Hmph. Huico couldn't say he wasn't partially relieved. He wasn't very comfortable with working alongside others who shared his penchant for bloodshed.

"Nobody," Huico says, letting a small sigh of frustration and relief pass through his lips.

[Conroy]

Conroy sighed. He might find a cheaper hotel in Hoboken if he was lucky, but the cab fare alone would be horrendous.

"Whatever. You do credit?"

[Storyteller]

The man manages to tear his gaze away from the motorcycle reruns.

"You find someplace in New York City with a lower rate, you go ahead and let me know. Otherwise, two hundred. It ain't fancy, but it's cheap. You even wanna know what my rent looks like? Forgettaboutit."

With a snort, the man returns to his reruns.

[Conroy]

"What, you think you're the Ritz or something?"

[Storyteller]

The man doesn't even move his eyes from the television as he shouts;

"$200 a night, every night."

[Conroy]

Conroy knew when he was being sized up. It was the Hispanic kid, not the one with the goggles. He reciprocated with a brief once-over as the kid looked away. His eyes lingered on the headband. There was just something....off about those patterns...

Tearing his eyes from the item, Conroy turned to the counter and called, "Excuse me, sir. What are your rates?"

[Crewer]

Huico barely gets a moment to attend to his project before the door once again makes a noise and another figure enters the hallway.

Older. Fixed expression. Slight stubble. Light luggage. Intent search. Trained stance, fluid movement, control. This man's killed before. You can see it in his eyes.

Huico then returns to his work, once again listening intently to any words spoken.

[Storyteller]

The front door silently slides open with a bit of resistance. You find yourself in the cramped entryway of a small hotel. There is a slightly run down front desk, where a fairly large red haired man sits behind the counter. His hair is short cropped and curly, and he seems to be fairly preoccupied with the small color tv sitting underneath the lip of the counter. Short hallways with 3 and 4 rooms each lead off to your right and left, and conclude with stairs leading up in similar directions. There is a small couch and chair near the entryway, place long with respect to the door so that they can fit. The combination of eclectic furniture and the desk leave little room for navigation, but it is manageable. The man does not appear to have noticed you walk in.

In addition to the man at the counter, there is a man of athletic build with black hair who appears to have just finished a conversation with the latin american man in the chair beside him. The combination of several people in such a small space is giving the little entryway a cramped feeling.

[Conroy]

Conroy reached a finger under his eye patch and rubbed he's perfectly functioning left eye. He didn't enjoy the eyepatch. His vision was limited and his depth perception was sharply reduced, but it was a good tool for scouting. He took it off a proceeded inside the hotel.

[Storyteller]

With one final harumph, the conversation appears to have ended inside the hotel.

Meanwhile, outside the hotel, a certain individual wearing an eyepatch has arrived via taxi to the middle of 55th street. Using the one good eye, he sweeps up and down the street, peering at everyone and their cars in an attempt to discern any hostilities or plots. Apparently satisfied [[you did not find anything suspicious]], the man finishes his sweep at the top of 56th street, outside the Chinese takeout location.

[[What do you do?: Conroy]]

[Crewer]

"Hmph." Huico then returns to his woodcut and begins to work intently.

"Not to mention some people or things that we don't want to run into, so we should be ready for trouble. Not that I have to tell you that; you seem like the type that's always ready for trouble."

[Crewer]

"I"m sure that the sheer presence of a handful of powerful individuals such as ourselves will bring Hanson to us."
